Copper Washer
Copper washers are the industry standard for sealing hydraulic fittings because they are soft enough to deform and fill microscopic imperfections under pressure, creating a leak-proof seal.

A Dowty Seal (commonly known as a bonded seal or bonded washer) is a high-pressure, static gasket used to create a leak-proof fluid barrier around screw threads, bolts, and pipe connections. Invented in the 1940s by the Dowty Group, it features a dual-material design consisting of a rigid metal outer ring and a trapezoidal elastomeric inner lip vulcanized together under immense heat and pressure. When compressed under joint torque, the elastomeric ring deflects to fill micro-imperfections on the metal surface, while the metal ring serves as a permanent compression limiter to prevent over-tightening or blowout.
Hydraulic O-rings and seals prevent fluid leakage, maintain internal pressure, and block external contaminants from entering hydraulic systems. Because they must withstand extreme pressures, constant movement, and aggressive fluids, choosing the correct seal type and material is critical for avoiding system failure.
